Now, a new report from Android Authority backs up this claim, citing leaked files from the Galaxy S25 Ultra that confirm the inclusion of this long-awaited feature. This move isn’t entirely unexpected—Samsung took its first step toward adopting seamless updates this year. Plus, expanding it to their flagship devices was only a matter of time.

Seamless updates, introduced by Google eight years ago, make software updates smoother and more convenient. They work using two system partitions—one for running the operating system and the other as a backup. So, when a new update is available, it gets installed on the backup partition in the background. After restarting the device, the updated partition becomes active. This process means you can keep using your phone during updates.

Unlike regular updates that lock you out of your device until the installation is complete, which can be inconvenient in emergencies. Currently, the Galaxy A55 is the only Samsung smartphone supporting seamless updates, as of December 2024. While the feature requires additional storage for the dual partitions.
