A report from a Korean news site says the iPhone 17e will use the same screen as the iPhone 16e — which is actually the same display first used in the iPhone 14. Apple seems to be keeping older parts for the cheaper models to save money. That also means the notch at the top of the screen is sticking around for another year.
Even though the screen won’t be new, Apple is still expected to make some improvements. The iPhone 17e might come with a better camera and a newer chip called the A19, though it won’t be as powerful as the chips in the higher-end models. There’s also talk about a new modem for faster 5G, but it’s not clear if the 17e will get it.
Looking ahead, Apple plans to change how it releases iPhones.
