Sound great

Overall these are great. I wish it had a separate volume control besides just the computer controls.I often work remoted in so I have to minimize windows in order to access the controls. Its a nuisance, but I still love the speakers.Of course I've been wanting a set since the first ones came out just never spent enough time at the computer to buy them.

The connection cable needs to be longer.

Longer connection cables for the speakers would make a real difference. Too close together and it sounds as if there is only one speaker

Volume control is on the subwoofer.

These things sound and look great, and they've made some very good improvements over prior generations. The speakers are no longer open, which takes care of the subwoofer collecting dead spiders, and the Bluetooth seems to work well without any delay in my experience (tested it out with a BT USB dongle on my desktop).The only major things I'd really point out, is that it does indeed have volume control, but it's been relocated as buttons to the front of the subwoofer, which isn't a huge deal, since you can just set the volume higher than you want, and then control it elsewhere.Worth noting, for whatever reason, they cheaped out and didn't include a line out cable, so if you want to plug it in instead of using Bluetooth, which isn't a big deal, but I mean come on, for this price, I feel like they probably should've included a nice matching cable.

Quality Speakers with Some Complaints

I purchased these directly from HK when they first came out in 2020. The sounds that comes from this package is indeed powerful. Bass is very strong, and as noted on other reviews, bass control is lacking and would be beneficial (especially now that I have a baby, I feel I can hardly use them).Bluetooth connection with Mac is pretty good. Not perfect. But honestly Mac BT modules are pretty crummy and as many other Mac owners can attest, resetting the Bluetooth module was required from time to time to get the choppy, stuttering playback to stop. That’s more of a criticism of Apple than the product, but as HK marketed the originals to be paired with the early iMacs, and have held more or less to the aesthetic, if you are a Mac user it bears mentioning. Now with Monterey as the OS I can’t even reset the Bluetooth module. Also, if you get fed up with Bluetooth on Mac and just want to use the (not included) AUX cable, Mac OS does not natively support volume control over the AUX output of the Mac (except with headphones) for some reason. So if you had to run AUX between the Soundsticks and your external monitor, you’re forced into using Subwoofer control. This is not the case over Windows with an identical hardware setup. Good thing I’ve been transitioning over to Windows…..A complaint I do have over AUX is that I haven’t been able to figure out yet why they will power off sporadically when I have been using them to play games on my Windows desktop. I’m unsure if it’s fighting my existing Bluetooth connections and if it doesn’t sense my MacBook or iPhone just powers off due to standby mode, but this obviously shouldn’t happen and is highly annoying to be playing a game just to have to tap the volume button to hear what the heck is happening when it randomly mutes.As others have noted, the cables are too short. I have a 72” desk and I cable manage my wires underneath the table top. If each satellite is at the far end of the table, and I have the subwoofer offset so as not to hinder monitor placement, one of the satellite cords will be stretched to the limit.Final criticism, and is a nitpick but one that is still annoying given the breadth of different hardware people use. From an aesthetic standpoint, the white is beautiful for any Mac setup. However, there is a black version of these as well. Black would go much better with my increasingly Razer-heavy peripherals, which are black aluminum and black steel. You cannot purchase the black speakers domestically, and this is an oversight by HK given the amount of black desktops and laptops in the world (let alone the US). Would be very nice if my whole setup followed one color profile and not clashing. I guess this can be overcome overtime if I rebuild my desk and setup into a black / white aesthetic and not the original space grey / white that went with my Apple only setup.Would I recommend them? No doubt. They produce great sound, are always a conversation piece, and look great on any desk. But they are expensive. And at their price point and with what is seemingly their intended market (Mac users), they are still quite flawed. But even if I don’t keep them in my setup, they’d still be lovely sitting on a sideboard in my kitchen or a console in the living room as a Bluetooth speaker for iPhone or tablet to fill that space with incredible music sound.
