iOS 18.4 Update for iPhone Brings New Sketch Style to Image Playground App

Apple recently released the iOS 18.4 update, bringing several new features to iPhones. While the spotlight was mostly on the new Visual Intelligence tools available for iPhone 15 Pro models, other smaller but useful updates were also included. One of these updates was a new addition to the Image Playground app — a feature that Apple originally teased during WWDC 2024.

The Image Playground app now has a third image style called Sketch, joining the existing Animation and Illustration styles. Apple describes the Sketch style as detailed and academic, using vibrant colors and fine lines to create realistic drawings. Like the other styles, it uses Apple’s AI tools (Apple Intelligence) to turn text prompts or rough sketches into polished digital artwork.

Image Playground is a free app on the App Store that helps users create and customize images using AI. It includes three main features: the image style options (Animation, Illustration, and Sketch), Genmoji (which lets users design custom emojis), and the Image Wand (a tool that turns rough sketches or text into images in the Notes app). All creations from the app can be shared in Messages, Notes, and other Apple apps like Pages and Keynote.
